In my previous post I wrote about the line between self-interest and selfishness and the importance of looking after one’s self so that one can look after others. As the writer in this Tiny Buddha article says: ‘The more I gave to myself, the more I was able to give to others, and the more I then received. When we give, we always receive.’
“If you light a lamp for someone else it will also brighten your path.” ~Buddha
All of which connects with the notion of enriching and finding meaning in our own lives by helping others.
It’s not a new idea – this concept that helping others contains the key to finding the meaning of life. Indeed, as this article from Berkeley points out, that well known philosopher Aristotle posited that we find happiness and fulfilment ‘by loving rather than being loved.’
The article further says: ‘According to the psychologist Carol Ryff, who reviewed the writings of numerous philosophers throughout history, relationships with others are “a central feature of a positive, well-lived life.”
Yet, we seem to find the whole thing such a struggle. More and more of us appear to seek meaning in material achievements: bigger homes and more stuff. All of which needs more time at work to get bigger salaries to pay for all the stuff and cuts us off from others in the process.
Take time to reconnect perhaps?
During my time as an holistic therapist I gained a fair amount of insight into the outcomes that women want for themselves. And that insight informs the Pink&Green ethos and is imbued into both our product range and our methods of production.
Our website explains how we seek to offer positive reinforcement and lovingly created skincare. We don’t think it’s too grand at all to say we want our products to help you to a positive and well-lived life.
And, if the many wonderful testimonials we receive are anything to go by, we are succeeding.
Our customers tell us, not only how much they like our products but how transformational they’ve been with their skin care problems – and, by extension, their lives when the problem was severe. You’ve no idea the lift we get from hearing these stories.
Not only are such interactions heart-warming but they help us to know what we’re doing right and shows us what else we could do.
We touched on this theme of interactions and the importance of caring and sharing in this blog post from September 2016. In that post we used one of Oscar Wilde’s many pearls of wisdom: ‘The only thing to do with good advice is to pass it on. It is never of any use to oneself’.
In the spirit of Oscar’s advice about passing on what you know and the notion of helping others what do you think of this idea?
It would be wonderful if you would share your love for your Pink&Green products with your friends. Now you don’t have to make a special effort to do this. But the next time you find yourself thinking and talking about your favourite skin care products why not mention how much you love Pink & Green?
In return, as a thank you, we’ll do something for both you and your friend or friends!
Every person you recommend can make their first purchase for half the usual retail price. All you would need to do is let us know their name and e-mail address and we’ll set up a special code for them to receive your gift to them.
While for you there’ll be an offer code for you to treat yourself to something of the equivalent purchase price of your friend and again, receive this half price.
“Never underestimate the difference YOU can make in the lives of others. Step forward, reach out and help. This week reach to someone that might need a lift”
So, who do you know that might need a lift?
